Agrimoney.com won a commendation for its business and
financial coverage at a prestigious internet awards ceremony, ahead of rivals
including the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal.
Forbes.com, the website for the US magazine, famous for its
listing of world billionaires, won the Best Business / Finance News Site
category at the Online Media Awards, announced in London on Wednesday night.
But Agrimoney.com, the website for agricultural producers, consumers and producers, which won the category last year, gained
a commendation, putting it ahead of the rest of the shortlist, which included
the Financial Times website FT.com, and the Wall Street Journal website.
"We are very pleased and proud to have gained this commendation,"
Mike Verdin, the Agrimoney.com editor, said.
"It is testament to all the hard work and expertise that goes
into producing Agrimoney.com for our readers in more than 170 countries
"Coming second to a website backed by such a well-respected
and resourced publication as Forbes is no shame."
Other winners at the awards included the BBC, Channel 4 News
and The Guardian.
