Forecasts for Wednesday's Canadian 2019 crop plantings report

Statistics Canada will later reveal its first forecasts for Canadian crop sowings this year.

The table below shows forecasts from a Reuters poll ahead of the report, and the latest estimates from AAFC, Canada’s farm ministry, as well as the actual areas seeded last year.

Particularly under scrutiny is the extent to which Canada’s diplomatic spat with China has undermined prospects for sowings of canola. China is (usually) by far the biggest importer of Canadian canola.
